Based on the not-so-subtle hints on Filter’s social-media feeds, it would appear as if original guitar Brian Liesegang has been welcomed back to the fold. The most obvious indication came earlier today when Filter posted a circa-1995 photo of Liesegang with Filter frontman and owner of the band name, Richard Patrick.
Over the past several weeks, the band has posted videos on their social-media accounts referencing Filter recording being done at both Patrick’s and Liesegang’s studios. Although no official announcement has been made of Liesegang’s return, BlastEcho reached out to Liesegang on Facebook about his purported return and he responded, “can neither confirm nor deny, as we don’t know [if I’m back in Filter]. We are just trying to have some fun together and maybe it will work out. We are just feeling it right now.”
Liesegang officially left Filter in 1997, having only appeared on the band’s celebrated 1995 debut, Short Bus, which featured the breakout single “Hey Man Nice Shot.” Since leaving Filter, Liesegang has been very active, having worked with Veruca Salt (and his ex-girlfriend Louise Post), Billy Corgan and his own band Ashtar Command, among others.
Filter, with a rotating ensemble of sideman, have released six studio albums since Short Bus, the last being 2016’s Crazy Eyes.
BlastEcho is the only music website on the planet (warning: hyperbole) that’s all original content. In other words, it’s new, not what you already knew. Here you’ll find the latest on your favorite classic rock, alternative and pop artists, as well as those you may have forgotten (or would rather forget). We’ll post it as fast as our shoestring staff can (is that a tiny violin we hear?)
There will be new music, too, for you to discover and, hopefully, some entertaining, ground-breaking features. Did we miss anything? Oh, yeah, thanks for stopping by. We’re very appreciative!
