On Sunday (January 21), ex-Smashing Pumpkins bassist D’arcy Wretzky confirmed both the planned Smashing Pumpkins reunion, and that she will not be a part of a reunion and/or tour, set to begin this summer.
Speaking exclusively to BlastEcho via text, Wretzky wrote, “My apologies to all of the Smashing Pumpkins fans out there who are excited about this oncoming reunion tour of the original members of the band. I know this is a huge disappointment for me, as well, but it’s not going to happen [with me].”
She added, “I only just found about yesterday that the band has decided to go with a different bass player.”
According to Wretzky, the band is planning to launch a summer tour featuring frontman Billy Corgan, original guitarist James Iha, original drummer Jimmy Chamberlain and, now a to-be-determined bassist, beginning in July.
At this time, Wretzky declined to provide additional details, but please stay tuned.
BlastEcho is the only music website on the planet (warning: hyperbole) that’s all original content. In other words, it’s new, not what you already knew. Here you’ll find the latest on your favorite classic rock, alternative and pop artists, as well as those you may have forgotten (or would rather forget). We’ll post it as fast as our shoestring staff can (is that a tiny violin we hear?)
There will be new music, too, for you to discover and, hopefully, some entertaining, ground-breaking features. Did we miss anything? Oh, yeah, thanks for stopping by. We’re very appreciative!

This is apparently fake. Way to spread misinformation, guys.

It is? Cool, I’ll tell D’arcy that both interviews she did with me didn’t happen.

The interviews were done via text? She’s on FB saying it wasn’t her giving out this info.

So the previous interview did with her was “fake,” too? http://blastecho.com/ex-smashing-pumpkin-darcy-wretzky-breaks-her-silence/. And I magically got that photo for the story, too, that nobody’s ever seen? Interesting…

I’m not talking about the last interview and have no reason to question that you’ve had contact with her before — but she’s saying she’s been hacked and it wasn’t her giving out that info. So in light of that, if your only contact with her was through text, technically you can’t be 100% sure it really was her.
Didn’t mean to come off too argumentative before… all I’m saying is that there’s conflicting info out there, and she’s saying on her FB account that it wasn’t her. So it’s fairly reasonable to question it.

Here’s the deal: Everyone else can live in a “fake news” world, but I’ll choose to live in a reality where journalists are ethical. That’s the REALITY, not a world fabricated by our asshole president. In order words, I don’t need to defend the veracity of anything written on this site.

Don’t be a dick just because you didn’t get your facts straight lmao

What fact was that? There isn’t one that’s wrong.

Jeez, man. I used to be a journalist. I don’t live in a fake news world and want high ethical standards as much as anyone, and I don’t get how you jumped to that.
I only questioned whether this was true because of conflicting info that was out there initially. I think that’s completely reasonable. This defensive reaction is a bit much.

Every time I post anything from this site the kneejerk reaction is it’s “fake.” Why, because I don’t have 3 million followers? That’s the benchmark? I just hate this tacit assault on journalism that didn’t exist before. It’s now “assumed” everything is dubious because that’s the culture we live in, thanks to that orange asshole in the White House who created it only to protect his corrupt ass.

It’s time for an offical statement from WP Corgan or so. @Blastecho: Can you confirm that it was really D’arcy?

What a joke! Cost saving move to split the money three ways?! Can’t put the real lineup together. Bet those tickets will be over priced.

I believe you BlastEcho! The Fake News Movement is causing people to doubt the news and ethical journalists. If her account got hacked on FB it has nothing to do with the fact that you made genuine contact with her! You dang right….that orange man in the WH cries FAKE NEWS to cover his butt! Both of your articles were believable and well written. 🙂

Thank you…. I think I’ve proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that nothing I wrote was “fake news.” Mic drop.

I’ll never forget when the Smashing Pumpkins played SNL back in the 1990s. At the end of the show, when everyone joins together on the stage to say goodbye, Wretzky was dancing happily with other SNL cast members until she made eye contact with Corgan, who he put his hand by his neck and sharply moved it in a “cut-it-out” gesture. Her smile dropped. She stopped dancing. She had been reprimanded by King Dick Corgan for not looking cool enough for him, and for having fun.
If I could’ve reached through the TV and choked Corgan at that point, then I would’ve.
