Talking Heads’ Instagram Goes Live — But the Band Has No Plans to Do the Same

Heads drummer Chris Frantz: "We were talking but we are not talking about touring"

Talking Heads fans got a bit of a surprise this evening when a completely dormant, but completely official Talking Heads Instagram account saw its first action — ever. A black-and-white photo of the New Wave band from its heyday was posted without any further explanation, but the conjecture that the band — which hasn’t performed live together since the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in 2002 — was, perhaps, reuniting was rampant.

BlastEcho reached out to Talking Heads drummer Chris Frantz to find out the deal. While he said the band was indeed “talking,” there was no plans for touring or new music, and that the band’s Warner Bros. record label is merely “recognizing that we are still an exciting band.”

Rather than reuniting, Frantz first said the band was “relaunching,” and then later changed the word to “recharging.” He added, however, that “we were talking but we are not talking about touring.”

So, there you have it. Carry on.
